Project details
Showing every finish without making every sample
HDD Design (Highly Decorative Doorhandles) is a Belgian door hardware brand. Its HDD Pro range comes in several collections and finishes, and each combination has its own article number.
To sell this range, HDD needed an image for every product in every finish. These had to match across the Rodox and Selox collections and be ready to drop into a product page or catalog.
Physical samples and studio photography make that expensive to scale. Every finish means another sample, another shoot and another round of retouching. HDD’s handles also have clean, smooth surfaces with very little visible detail. Any inconsistency in light, colour or surface shows immediately.
The Solution: model first, color second
PIXREADY built the project as a two-stage pipeline. The first stage was geometry only. We modeled every product from HDD’s technical drawings and reference photos and presented the models in neutral grey, with no color or texture to hide behind. Each model had to be approved before we moved on.
Once the shapes were locked, we applied finishes and rendered the final images. We matched Matt Bronze and Black to HDD’s references. White textured is the only finish with a visible surface structure, so we reproduced that grain exactly. All other surfaces stay smooth, as they are on the real products.
The package covered five products:
- Rodox door handle: a broad, oval paddle lever.
- Selox door handle: a slim blade lever with a thin edge.
- Key escutcheon
- Cylinder escutcheon
- Toilet turn and tumble: shared by both collections.
Each product was delivered in all three finishes. Handles were shown from two angles, with ¾ front views as the main shot. Smaller accessories were shown from the front, and the toilet turn and tumble from two angles.
Results & business impact
HDD received a consistent, reusable image set for the whole range instead of a one-off batch.
✓ 24 renders across 5 products and 15 product-finish variants. Rodox, Selox, both escutcheons and the toilet turn and tumble, each in Matt Bronze, Black and White textured.
✓ Colour and surface fidelity. Finishes follow HDD’s references, and the smooth-versus-textured distinction is preserved. Each image is labeled with the matching HDD article name.
✓ 100% of models and renders approved. The grey-model stage meant shape questions were settled before color work began, so finish rendering stayed predictable.
✓ Ready to publish. Every image is delivered at 2500×2500 px as a PNG with a transparent background and as a JPEG on white. This lets HDD use them in catalogs, web shops, configurators and wholesaler listings without further retouching.
✓ No samples, no studio. Everything was built from drawings and reference photos. HDD didn’t need to ship physical handles or book a photo shoot.
✓ Cheaper to extend. The 3D models and scene setups remain reusable. A new finish or accessory means swapping a material or adding a model, not starting from scratch.
✓ Clear delivery trail. Results were organized into dated Preview, Revision and Final folders, so HDD could see the version history and which files were final.
By investing in 3D product rendering, HDD Design gained a visual system that grows with its collection, with lower production effort and more consistency.
“I’ve already worked with PIXREADY across several brands, and their quality is consistently top-notch. Their services come at a cost, but it’s a worthwhile investment. They deliver highly accurate work and always meet their deadlines.” - Seppe Wouters, Marketing Lead, HDD Design
