Premium Luggage CGI: One 3D Asset, an Entire Marketing Ecosystem

From a single high-fidelity 3D model of premium aluminum luggage, PIXREADY produced a full content system — hero stills, lifestyle scenes, and a 360° turntable animation — built to power e-commerce, marketing, and sales.

ONE ASSET, EVERY CHANNEL

Premium luggage is a hard sell through photography alone. The brushed-aluminum grooves, the precision of the corner reinforcements, the weight implied by a perfectly cast handle — all of it depends on light behaving exactly right, shot after shot, across a dozen colorways and just as many marketing formats. A traditional shoot means booking a studio, a full case lineup, a location for lifestyle context, and starting the whole process over every time a new finish ships.

We wanted to see how far a single, carefully built 3D asset could go — and used a premium aluminum suitcase, in the style of Rimowa's iconic case design, to find out. Rather than delivering one hero shot, PIXREADY treated the model as the foundation of an entire content system: studio product photography, in-context lifestyle scenes, and a full 360° turntable animation, all generated from the same geometry.

Why RIMOWA

Since 1898, RIMOWA has built its identity around a single, instantly recognizable design language — the grooved aluminum shell, first introduced in 1937 and inspired by the fluted skin of early aircraft. It's a shape that photographs beautifully but is unforgiving to render: every rib has to catch light with mechanical consistency, every rivet and lock has to read as precision-milled metal rather than plastic. That combination of iconic geometry and exacting surface detail made it the ideal stress test for what a modern CGI pipeline can deliver for a luxury hard-goods brand.

FROM MESH TO MARKET: THREE FORMATS, ONE MODEL

Instead of treating each visual as a one-off render, we structured the project around three output formats that a real luggage brand would need in parallel — each pulling from the same base 3D asset.

Format 01 — Studio hero stills
Clean, black-background product shots emphasizing metal, form, and hardware — the kind of imagery built for e-commerce listings, brand lookbooks, and print. The full case family, from carry-on to trunk, in a single consistent lighting setup so the range reads as one collection.

Format 02 — Lifestyle & environment scenes
The same model dropped into real-world contexts — a sunlit tropical path, a lounge at golden hour, a moving airport crowd rendered with cinematic motion blur. These scenes exist to sell a feeling, not just a product, and require zero location scouting, zero travel budget, and zero weather risk.

Format 03 — 360° turntable animation
A full rotating product view, giving shoppers the same "pick it up and inspect it" confidence a showroom visit provides — built for product pages, ad units, and social, without a single additional shoot day.

THE PIPELINE BEHIND THE POLISH

Everything starts with the mesh. We modeled the case from reference geometry with obsessive attention to the details that make or break metal CGI — the depth and spacing of the fluted grooves, the beveled corner guards, the TSA lock mechanism, the branded plate. Getting the ribbing right mattered more than almost anything else in the project: uneven groove spacing or an inconsistent bevel is the fastest way to make a CGI case look like a toy instead of a $1,000+ travel object.

From there, material work did the heavy lifting. Brushed and polished aluminum, anodized color finishes in silver, gunmetal, navy, and gold, and the soft-touch rubber of the wheels and feet were each built as physically accurate shaders — so the same model could be recolored across an entire seasonal palette without remodeling a single surface.

Lighting was tuned separately for each format. The studio stills use hard, directional light to trace every groove in sharp, repeatable highlights — the same setup across every case in the lineup, the same discipline a real product catalog demands. The lifestyle scenes use soft, ambient, time-of-day-specific lighting (tropical daylight, dusk terminal glow, warm hotel-lounge tones) to sell atmosphere rather than surface detail. The hero macro leans into dramatic, almost jewelry-style lighting to treat the case like the luxury object it's meant to be.

Because every scene, finish, and camera angle lives on top of the same underlying asset, none of this required physical prototypes, a studio booking, or a single flight to a tropical location. A finish update or a new case size becomes a model change — not a new production cycle.

RESULTS: WHAT ONE ASSET CAN FUEL

This project shows, end to end, what a single well-built CGI asset can support across a real brand's marketing and sales stack:

E-commerce-ready hero imagery — Consistent, catalog-grade studio stills across the full case lineup and finish range, ready for product listings and marketplaces.

Lifestyle content for brand and social — Aspirational, in-context scenes (travel, hospitality, airport) built without location scouting, models, or shoot logistics.

360° turntable animation — A full rotating product view for e-commerce PDPs, ad units, and social, giving shoppers the confidence of physical inspection online.

A finish-agnostic asset library — Silver, gunmetal, navy, and gold variants from one model, with new colorways or sizes achievable as a model update rather than a reshoot.

Zero physical production dependency — No studio rental, no sample logistics, no location travel — the entire package was produced directly from 3D geometry.

For a category built on precision and material honesty, this is the argument for CGI: not a shortcut around photography, but a system that scales the way modern marketing actually needs to move — across formats, finishes, and channels, from a single source file.
